5 Days to Capture Your Holiday Traditions | Recap Part I

It’s no secret that Christmas is my favorite time of the year. I just love all the holiday traditions and family memories that we make. It’s also a perfect time to freeze the special moments that go by in a blink of an eye and as a mother of two boys, I know all too well how important it is to be able to document our lives. I also know that documenting the holiday season isn’t as easy for everyone as it is for me, so last week, I committed to helping you do just that.

For the first time ever, I had the pleasure of hosing a challenge in my VIP Tribe Facebook Group: 5 Days to Capture Your Holiday Traditions. I delivered daily video-based lessons to my VIP Tribe to help them capture this magical time of year, and I ended up with some fun images that I know will be treasured by my boys for years to come. Not only that, but I started a few fun giveaways, too! Today I thought I’d share Part 1 of the recap of the challenge complete with the video-based lessons I provided to my VIP Tribe and the images I took for each challenge as well! Even though Christmas is over, there is still plenty of time left to capture the magic of the season so I hope you’ll join in the fun! Plus there are going to be more prizes this week so if that’s not motivation enough, I don’t know what is. Keep scrolling to see a recap of Days 1 and 2 and click here to join in on the fun for Days 3-5.

My images:

Now it’s time to share the images I created for Days 1 and 2 of the challenge. Here is what Christmas morning looked for us, and how I managed to get in the frame with my family.

Day 1 – Capture the Magic of Christmas morning

This year for Christmas we were not at home for the holiday so we had improvise when it came to setting up for Santa Claus coming to the house.  I set up in the living room where we were expecting Santa to unload presents.  As you can see I have my tri-pod set up, the triggers and remote set up on top with my flash.  This is how I capture the magic of Christmas morning.

Day 2 – Get in the frame

As I mentioned earlier my mission was to make sure that on Christmas morning I was in the frame with my kiddos when we opened presents. So here are a couple of the image from Christmas morning.

You can tell in this one I had the remote in my hand that I was using to tell the camera to take the picture.

This is so easy to accomplish and you if you don’t have a big camera you can even do it with your Iphone.
