Today I’m taking you back to a session I did in May and I’m loving re-living Baby L’s newborn session! Her father found me on Google and contacted me to schedule her session ahead of time, which I always recommend to parents to ensure a slot in my calendar. Did you know that newborn sessions are best done during the first two weeks of birth? That’s when babies are in their sleepiest and curliest stage and posing is so much easier for them at this stage of life. Once those first couple of weeks pass by, newborn sessions can still be done but the classic newborn poses become much more difficult to achieve. Luckily, that wasn’t the case for Baby L. She rocked every single one of her poses!
On the day of her session, Baby L was in the perfect newborn stage. She was an absolute dream to work with! She actually hadn’t slept very well during the two days before the session, which worked in my favor because she slept like a perfect little angel during my time with her. We were able to zip through all of my favorite poses without hearing a peep from her.
One of my favorite parts of working with Baby L actually happened after the session when her parents came back to my studio for their ordering session. They mentioned Lubbock, TX and I realized that Baby L’s mom and I actually went to the same exact high school together! We discovered that we had so many things in common and I loved reminiscing about our home town and all the mutual friends we had. Connecting with my clients during moments like these is just one of the reasons why I love what I do. God has a way of bringing people into your life in ways that you don’t expect and it’s a beautiful thing! Also beautiful are the images I’m about to share with you of Baby L. Enjoy a peek into this sweet session and good luck with that baby fever you’re about to get, ha!
First up is Baby L in the pose photographers lovingly refer to as the Taco Pose! It’s a funny name for this pose, isn’t it? But the pose is adorable and I love how Baby L’s skin tone looks against this pretty lavender.
Another angle of this same pose! I love how this one shows off her tiny little ears and soft hair.
Baby L transitioned perfectly into the tushie up pose. Look how soundly she is sleeping! A photographer’s dream!
This next pose is one of my favorites – I love how Baby L’s face is shown off in this classic chin-on-hands pose.
And she looks perfect in this pastel-colored trench bowl, too!
I think this is the first time this little wooden bed appears on my blog! I’m in love with the whitewashed look of the wood – so perfect for this pastel-colored session.
And now for the Potato Sack pose! Baby L loved being swaddled tightly so we were able to get a lot of different looks out of this one!
And last but not least, Baby L with her proud parents! Don’t they make such a gorgeous family?
I hope you enjoyed reading this blog post today! If you are expecting or know someone who is, please contact me here and let’s talk about capturing your new bundle of joy once they arrive.

Thank you Jeanne! It’s truly an honor to be a part of their memories.
So fun reliving it all! This was such a fun day for us! We were amazed at how you got her in all those positions and she didn’t make a peep. We’ve love it if she’d sleep like that again. ? Oh and once a Sandie, always a Sandie! Blow sand blow! ?
Oh yes, she was sound asleep and we thought she would be up the whole time 😉 Love it Hailee!!! I haven’t heard that in so long!!
