It has been a short while since I last shared a cake smash on the blog so today you’re in for a treat, no pun intended. Baby M’s mama and I started brainstorming about this cake smash almost a month before the actual session. First, we talked about the colors and theme of the cake smash session, because everyone loves a well-coordinated cake smash, right?! Next, we spoke about what little M would wear and what color the cake would be. Once we made some decisions on that, I consulted with my cake designer and we got to gathering the rest of the supplies needed to make this shoot possible. Baby M’s mom made the fox pendant that made for the cutest backdrop and combined with colorful balloons, an orange bow tie and suspenders, this shoot goes down as one of my favorites to date!
As you will see in the images below, all the time we sent preparing for the session truly paid off and the images turned out perfectly! On the day of M’s cake smash, this little guy was a little confused at first but as soon as I started monkeying around with him, he started to get comfortable and laugh, devouring his cake in the process! Check out some of my favorite images below:
How about this face?! Baby M had the most squeezable cheeks!
Introducing… the cake! My cake designer is the absolute best! I shared the colors and theme of the shoot with her and she created the most perfect cake for little M.
I love the stages he went through – he goes from confused to curious to apprehensive…
…gets a little distracted…
…starts to think this may actually turn out to be fun…
…but still has his moments of doubt…
…until he gets a taste of the cake and goes to town on it!!
I think here he is thinking: “So THIS is why cake smashes are so popular! I got this”
Yum!
“It’s my birthday and I can chew with my mouth open if I want to!”
I think at this point he started to get a little overwhelmed with the whole experience…
But in the end he ended up smashing that cake and looking adorable in the process!
Baby M got cake pretty much everywhere… except on his toes! I’m not sure how he managed to keep those cute little toes so clean when he had cake in every other crevice, but he did! Once we had gotten as many images as we could, we got to cleaning up and I said goodbye to Baby M and to two very happy parents of a one year old!
I hope you enjoyed this recap of Baby M’s fun cake smash session. Looking for a Houston Baby Photographer? Contact me here and we’ll chat about the images you’re looking to achieve of your one year old baby.
