The First Time
This is the first time your husband rocks your baby to sleep.
The first time you and your husband get to introduce your baby to their grandparents.
The first time your baby meets their older siblings.
These are the types of moments that I love to capture during Fresh 48 sessions.
If you’re expecting a baby, you’ve likely heard the term “Fresh 48” mentioned a lot. Maybe in the hospital and by your friends and family. What is a Fresh 48 session, exactly, you ask?
What is a Fresh 48 Session?
A Fresh 48 session is a session that takes place within 48 hours of your baby’s birth. The session takes place in the hospital. Most often, it’s on the day after you give birth to your baby. If you’re hesitant to have the raw moments of birth documented, it’s the perfect alternative. Your baby will be bathed. You’ll have rested for a few hours. The joy you feel will be absolutely overwhelming. What better time to document the sweet moments between family?
As a birth, Fresh 48, and newborn photographer, I get the privilege of documenting babies and their families during one of the most amazing times in a person’s life. I’m able to capture the raw moments of a birth, the sweet moments at the hospital, or your baby’s first portrait session. The images I get to create for my clients are always so treasured.
How do we schedule a Fresh 48 Session?
As you know, a baby’s arrival is usually unpredictable! The first thing I’ll do after you decide I’m the photographer for you is to mark my calendar with your due date. This way, I’ll be looking forward to your due date! Once your baby is here, you’ll text me and we’ll set up a time. This time will be to come document a couple of hours during your little miracle’s first 48 hours of life.
What does a Fresh 48 session include?
Don’t worry, you don’t have to do your hair and makeup for the occasion. Fresh 48 sessions are meant to be truly authentic and raw. That’s the beautify of this session! Just real moments between you and your baby. I’ll focus on your little one’s first yawns, cute little baby feet, belly button, first feedings, and diaper changes. I capture the connection between you and the baby. I’ll document the emotions of loved ones meeting your baby for the first time.
As a mother of two, I know that the First 48 hours of a baby’s life are a blur for most parents. Between exhaustion, pain, and all the distractions that exist in a hospital, the first 48 hours go by so quickly. Before you know it, you’re home and that special time when you first welcomed your baby into the world is gone forever. My job as a Fresh 48 photographer is to make sure you remember all those moments.

Baby E’s Fresh 48 Session
Danielle and Brian welcomed their second son at Texas Children’s Hospital-Pavillion for Women. He was born on a Monday evening and we did his session on Tuesday morning. My favorite part of the session was documenting Little Guy N just a few hours after he became a big brother.

Baby C’s Fresh 48 Session
Meet Baby C! Lindsay and Ed welcomed their baby at Houston Methodist West Hospital. He was born late on a Monday and we did his session on Wednesday.
