Tonight I have the pleasure of telling with you about two amazing women that are making huge strides in the birth community.
Let me introduce Rebecca McKimmey, APRN, CNM and Amy N. Perilman, APRN, WHNP-BC, CNM with The Midwifes of Willowbrook/Houston Methodist Obstetrics/Midwifery.
These ladies are not new to the birth community. They have made an enormous movement in the last year to become a part of Houston Methodist Willowbrook. I am honored to have worked with these ladies as they opened their new practice on April 1, 2018.
The mission of The Midwives at Willowbrook is that pregnancy and childbirth are natural extensions of the human experience.
We seek to empower clients, in shared decision-making while navigating this time period, by providing complete and accurate information. Meanwhile respecting the individuality and uniqueness of each woman and her family’s perspectives. Our goal is to fuse current, evidence- based practice with the traditional art of midwifery.
The Midwives at Willowbrook provide a holistic approach to healthcare throughout a woman’s lifespan by partnering with her and her family. We also foster a supportive and empowering atmosphere with open communication, while building relationships during the healthcare process. We serve women, of all backgrounds, and all walks of life, in order to foster Better Health outcomes for the individual and the community at large.
The Midwives at Willowbrook render comprehensive care for families seeking a planned hospital birth including VBAC. We also support our out of hospital birthing community by providing an option for transfer to an in hospital setting if the need arises.
If a woman’s risk status increases during pregnancy, we work in close cooperation with physicians through consultation, collaboration, and referral, to develop and provide the safest care plan.
The Midwives at Willowbrook offer primary care and women services throughout the lifespan. Respecting a woman’s right to have dominion over her own health and care. We approach life events, such as puberty, birth, and menopause as physiological transitions that are best supported by education and midwifery expertise.
After meeting with Rebecca and Amy at their new practice a few months back, we collaborated to come up with wall art to adorn their patient rooms. There is no better way to do that than with raw and emotional images of families welcoming their new little miracles into this world. I took pictures of all of their walls and imported those into the computer to present to them the exact wall inspirations I had come up with for the patient rooms..
We talked about doing a room with all black and white canvases and a room of color images. We agreed that the images should add a sense of warmth and comfort when ladies enter. Rebecca and Amy have done such an amazing job doing just that.
Here is a little sneak peek of their current practice but you have to make sure to come out to see them with your own eyes..
It has been such a delight to be a part of their journey to open Houston Methodist Obstetrics/Midwifery located at 10130 Louetta Road, Suite G Houston, TX 77070, near Hwy 249 and Louetta. I look forward to capturing many new families with them and helping move their vision forward. They are excited to announce that in the upcoming months they will be moving into Houston Methodist Hospital-Willowbrook.
During my last visit with Rebecca, we took a quick tour of the new practice space and I must say this is going to be an amazing place for them! It is such a comforting, and relaxed space that they are going to offer and making it inviting for everyone that comes to see them!
We also made a quick tour of the labor and delivery rooms at Houston Methodist/Willowbrook, and I wanted to share an image with because of how comforting these rooms are and how great the lighting is in labor and delivery rooms! Here is a little look at what they have to offer.
If you are expecting or in need of women services, make sure you connect with Rebecca or Amy, I promise you won’t be disappointed! And…. While you are there, check out the beautiful work of art on their walls provided by Lifetime of Clicks Photography. If you deliver with Becky or Amy, I hope to have the pleasure of documenting your birth story and capturing these memories to last a lifetime.
