Most photographers specialize in a couple of areas so they can perfect their craft. That doesn’t mean that they are unable to do other work, of course, but I can guarantee you they have a favorite. Here at Lifetime of Clicks, our favorite is capturing family memories. Erica was looking for a maternity and newborn session with the same photographer so her portraits would be consistent and she found us through Instagram. After getting to know each other a bit over the phone and finding we were going to be a great fit, we got both her maternity and newborn sessions scheduled on the calendar.
Light and Bright Maternity Gown
Erica was able to come to see all the dresses and gowns available in the Lifetime of Clicks Client Closet before her session. After she tried on quite a few she decided to do her entire session in one of our most popular maternity gowns – a beautiful frilly ivory gown that can be worn open or closed.
Multiple Backdrops for her Indoor Maternity Session
Erica and her husband were expecting a little boy so she knew that she wanted to incorporate some blue into the session somehow. We decided to change things up a little with the background since she was keeping the same dress for the entire session. She started wearing the gown in front of one of our backdrops that has a painted blue look and then she transitioned to the white backdrop for a little more brightness. She ended the session with some backlit portraits in front of the curtains and a few on our futon against our white studio walls.
Newborn Session with the Same Color Palette
After their handsome son was born, Erica and her husband decided on keeping the color palette consistent with those portraits as well. They wanted to do blue/gray and white to ensure that the portraits from both sessions would work well together in a framed gallery. There are two benefits to choosing the same photographer for your maternity and newborn sessions: the photography style will be the same, and likely the colors used can be the same. The family portraits from this session work perfectly with the maternity session in the frames they chose for their home.
Planning Ahead with the Same Photographer
Knowing that there are so many milestones to document in your child’s lifetime, we are so grateful when families choose us again and again. One of the best ways to ensure we have space on our calendar is by becoming a Collective Membership family which has a whole list of benefits besides that. We can’t wait to see how much he has grown at each of his upcoming milestone sessions. For now, we will just keep looking at these newborn portraits because he’s just so cute!
