Mackenzie reached out when she was about five months pregnant with her daughter and decided to become a Collective member. With babies due in winter, sometimes the scheduling options for maternity portraits are limited because of fall family sessions. We opted for a winter maternity session in Katy, at one of our favorite locations right around the studio.
Fall vs. Winter Maternity Photos – Which is Better?
Seasons in the Houston area don’t change much throughout the year. It’s either slightly cool, hot, or sweltering. Fall portraits are a favorite for a lot of families because it’s the perfect time to have an updated family portrait ready for the holiday season to send to all their loved ones. When looking at the weather, sometimes the fall can be a very rainy season, and other times it can still be outrageously hot. This winter maternity session we did for Mackenzie ended up being perfect. We still got the beautiful colors in the changing leaves while also enjoying the cooler temperatures.
Maternity Session in Katy vs. Maternity Session in Houston – Where Should We Go?
Our clients live all over the city of Houston, from the north to the south, east to the west, and we’ve even had clients drive all the way from Waco. Our studio is situated in Katy and several of our favorite spots are pretty close. One of the reasons we prefer locations near the west side of town is because of the convenience for our clients after they get their hair and makeup done at the studio. Another is because the locations out here are much less crowded than in the Houston city limits so you’re less likely to compete for beautiful space with another family.
Winter Maternity Session for a Winter Baby
We suggest maternity sessions happen between the 30 and 35-week mark of your pregnancy. Mackenzie was just on the other side of that since she was due just 30 days from her session date, but she looked beautiful and this winter session turned out perfectly. As a Collective member, Mackenzie will also have a newborn and one-year session with us and get all of the benefits that come with membership. If you are due with a winter baby, reach out as soon as possible to get on the calendar. Most of 2023 is booked but we have reserved a few spots for last-minute maternity and newborn clients. You could have a winter maternity session in Katy or the greater Houston area before your newest addition arrives!
